First we walk uphill to the ruins of the Paleokastro. Here we have a beautiful view over the Voidokilia bay. And we have a short break here.
We walk back the same way. Afterwards the route is completely flat over easy-to-walk sandy paths and a small stretch of beach.
On this beach we have our 2nd break. Then we walk around the lagoon where we hope to see flamingos.
We drive back to the village of Gialova, where we can have a drink in one of the cafenions.
The chronicle of today
Today on our first walk in the new year, it was a cloudy, rainy day and 10 freewalkers met at the pump house in Gialova.
It wasn't cold, there was no wind and during the walk there was only the occasional light drizzle.
At the castle above Voidokilia Bay, a new freewalker joined us who couldn't find the meeting point, so there were eleven of us. During the walk we were able to observe flamingos, herons and other birds. At the end we all had a drink together in Gialova.
Meeting point next Saturday, 11th of January at 10am in Vasilitsi.
