At the Café Pantopolio Muriá in Yamia
Meeting point Saturday, 21th of June, already at 8am, due to the heat, at the Café Pantopolio Muriá in Yamia.
Afterwards, the trail climbs gently for about 4 km with little shade.
We take a banana break at the church with a magnificent view of Finikounda, the islands, and the sea.
The path to Chrisokellaria is easy, downhill, and partially shady.
From the village, the trail continues along a wide unpaved road under construction.
There is also little shade there.
After the hike we can enjoy a drink in the shade of the mulberry trees of the Kafenion.
The host is looking forward to welcoming us.
The chronicle of today
34 early birds arrived in Yameia on time.
Who would have imagined it?
The temperatures were perfect for the climb and a few shady spots offered a short rest.
What a treat.
From the church the descent was swift and as always, it was lovely to walk through Chrisokellaria.
We returned to Yameia on the new connecting road which was still under construction.
In the meanwhile, it had warmed up, a good reason to sit and have a drink in the shade of the Kafenion.
The owner welcomed us very warmly and offered cucumbers, tomatoes and olives from his garden.
It was really beautiful and everyone said, starting at 8am was a perfect decision.
We should stick to that always when temperatures get higher.
See you next week on Saturday, 28th of June at 8am at the church of Finikounda.
