25-10-2025-Finikounda-Gianoukakeika grape valley

The walk starts at 10 am in Finikounda at the church.
We walk up to Xounakia, passing the Ypsilon house and we continue walking up.
A walk around the hill from Finikounda to Gianoukakeika, the valley with the grapes.
After Gianoukakeika it's most downhill with 2 steep descending sections.
14km on good, most wide dirt roads, some sections on paved roads.
We can have our break somewhere in the fields.
Back in Finikounda we can have a drink in one of the Kafenions.

 The chronicle of today

On a bright and sunny day 42 Walkers and 2 dogs gathered in Finikounda for "a walk around the hill".
We walked up to Gianoukakeika, the valley with the grapes. It was special to see how quick nature turned into green after the rain.
Also the purple heather was a colorful element in the landscape.
On some places farmers were harvesting their olives.
Back in Finikounda we had drinks on the terrace at Gardenia overlooking the beach and the sea where tourists were swimming and children were building sand castles.
End of October in Greece .......
